Vietnam listed top 12 countries in long-term tourism growth

In year 2010, Vietnam gained a lot of success of tourism and the resulting is Vietnam’s tourism directly contributed VND 73,800 billion to the gross national products (GDP), accounting for 3.9 per cent of the nation’s GDP. The labor force directly working in this field is nearly 1,397 million ones, equal to 3 percent of the nation’s labor force. The earnings from international visitors and tourist goods is estimated at $4.58 billion, accounting for 6.7 per cent of the total national export in 2010 (WTTC – the World Travel and Tourism Council)

 According to the latest vote by the WTTC, Viet nam ranked 47th, 54th and 12th among 181 countries and territories listed, is a country which has overall tourism development, the sector’s contribution to the national economy, and the long-term (10-year) tourist growth.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism hopes that the tourist growth rate in 2010 is 3.4 percent and up to 7.3 per cent in the next 10 years and the direct and indirect contribution of the sector will reach $15.9 billion (6 per cent of the GDP) and VND 738,600 billion (13.1per cent of the GDP) in 2020.
