It can be divided into three sub-regions according to its deviation in topography and climate, namely: North Tay Nguyen, including Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces; Mid-Tay Nguyen including Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces and South Tay Nguyen including Lam Dong province.

The space of gong culture in Central Highlands of Viet Nam covers 5 provinces mentioned-above. The masters of gong culture are the ethnic groups of Ba Na, Xo Dang, M’Nong, Co Ho, Ro Mam, E De, Gia Rai…The gongs are made of brass alloy or a mixture of brass and gold, silver, bronze. Their diameter is from 20cm to 60cm or from 90cm to 120cm. A set of gongs consists of 2 to 12 or 13 units and even to 18 or 20 units in some places. The gong performances are always closely tied to community cultural rituals and ceremonies of the ethnic groups in Central Highlands. The space of gong culture in Central Highlands is a heritage with temporal and spatial imprints. So, the Gongs are the symbol of Tay Nguyen people and can not lack in every ethnic festivals. As for the ethnic groups in Central Highlands, gongs are musical instruments of sacred power. It is believed that every gong is the settlement of a god who gets more powerful as the gong is older. “God of gong” is always considered as the tutelary deity for the community’s life. With its diversity and originality, it’s possible to confirm that gongs hold a special status in Viet Nam’s traditional music.

If you come to Tay Nguyen, you will enjoy natural views and life of Tay Nguyen people. Cat Tien National Park, Yok Don National Park, Kon Ka Kinh National Park are places that you should go to discover its interests. There is also a place of industrial trees or fruits such as cashew, rubber, cacao, pepper, and white mulberry. Coming to Daklak’s, visitors can see many waterfalls (the nicest waterfall is Dray Nur, where a huge amount of water cascades down over a wide cliff, even in the dry season), ride elephants, enjoy the milky fermented drink called Ruou Can. But coffee is what’s most evidence – tall bushes growing, not in large fields, but in dense plantations clustered round small farmhouses. Not surprisingly, Vietnam is the world’s second largest coffee producer after Brazil.

Tay Nguyen is a home of most endangered species of Vietnam and Southeast Asia: the Indochinese tiger, the huge gaur, the Wild Asian Water Buffalo and the Asian elephant.

You also can get in elephants around Ban Don village by using a service of ethnic groups to see beautiful natural views here. You can also take a boat trip on the same river, with around ten people to a vessel.
