Chinese passport holders are not included in the list of Vietnam visa exemption, so they must apply visa to Vietnam.

In order to apply visa to Vietnam, Chinese citizens must possess a Chinese passport with validity of at least six months. Hereunder is useful information of Vietnam visa for Chinese.

Formerly, foreigners can apply visa with validity of six months (single/multiple), but since August 24, 2009, according to the newly updated information from Vietnam Immigration Department (A18), only 3-month visa (single/multiple) are issued for all foreigners and they are the longest one. However, they can ask for a visa extension if they want to stay longer than validity bearing on the visa.

In case of meeting difficulty in asking a guarantee letter from the immigration department ofVietnam, travelers can use the service to extend visa.

To apply visa to Vietnam, the Chinese citizens can do following two options:
– Obtaining visa at Vietnam embassy or consulate in the local countries. This way is traditional and common but will take applicants a lot of time to wait, and cost for some travels. An original passport with 6 – month validity and at least rests one blank page for a visa stamp is the most important paperwork. Besides, the applicants must have two photos sized 4x6cm and a visa application form.

– Obtaining visa via a legitimated agent. In this case the applicants will get a Vietnam visa on arrival – visa picked up at the airport. Applying visa follows this way, the applicants can save time and cost of travel. But visa on arrival only obtained once applicants travel by air at three international airports of Vietnam: Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi, Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang international airport in Da Nang.
